POLICE from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command are appealing for information after a man broke into a home of an elderly woman at Blue Haven overnight.
The 90-year-old homeowner told police she was watching TV in the lounge room of her home in Roper Road about 6.30pm yesterday when she saw a man run down her hallway.
The man grabbed her handbag from the dining room and escaped through a front bedroom window which had been forced open.
Local police were assisted by a dog squad team to search the area but were unable to find the man or the handbag.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area of Roper Road about 6.30pm yesterday.
The man was described only as being about 170cm tall with a thin build and wearing dark clothing. It’s believed the man was also wearing a balaclava.
