FOUR local young athletes from the Morisset districts have been selected to be part of Lake Macquarie's magnificent dozen to compete at the 12th International Children's Games (ICG) in Daegu, South Korea, in July.
The four are Morisset High School students Christian Pilkinghorne (of Brightwaters) and Danielle Clarke (Morisset), Charlton Christian College student Dana Gill (Bonnells Bay), and Hunter Sports High School student Emma-Sue Greentree (Bonnells Bay).
Emma-Sue's main event is high jump. She is the under-14 and under-13 years national champion for both Athletics Australia and Little Athletics Australia, winning both events this year.
The five-day games will start on July 12.
Lake Macquarie mayor Greg Piper said the ICG was a great opportunity for young athletes to compete at an international level.
"This year is the fourth year Lake Macquarie will send a team to the ICG," Cr Piper said.
"All of the team members are very excited, and will be training hard in the lead-up to the games in July."
Lake Macquarie will host the 2014 International Children's Games.
