IF you like a good garage sale, then don't make any plans for this Saturday, May 5.
That's when the first national Garage Sale Trail will be held around the nation.
It's a day set aside for households, businesses, and sporting, school and community groups to de-clutter, make a few dollars, and network with those in the neighbourhood.
For buyers, it's a chance to bag some bargains in the biggest community-based marketplace.
It's also an opportunity to recycle.
And Lake Macquarie residents are getting on board.
Among the local businesses who'll be taking part is Agnes Books of Morisset.
Store owners Jim and Anne Owens said a selection of titles would be on sale on tables outside their premises in Advantage Avenue.
"There'll be lots of kids books, fiction and non-fiction, autobiographies and others," Anne said.
Fans of paperback novels will be spoiled for choice with plenty of titles from the likes of James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Bryce Courtenay, Wilbur Smith and Patricia Cornwell to choose from.
Agnes Books has 4000 books on its shelves, 24,000 books currently on its database, and plans to eventually have 100,000. (Go to agnesbooks.com.)
"All of the books that we'll have for sale for the Garage Sale Trail will be bargain priced," Jim said.
