Hitting $10,000 target just a stroll in the park

THERE was more than fine autumn weather attracting people for a walk in the park at Speers Point recently.

Some 267 men, women and children registered and took part in the second annual Hunter Walk 4 Freedom.

The pathway from Speers Point to Eleebana was awash with the freedom walkers who helped to raise funds for the A21 Campaign, an organisation dedicated to rescuing and repatriating the victims of human trafficking and slavery.

Event co-ordinator Natalie Stackhouse said the walk on Sunday, April 1, was a huge success, and the fund-raising target of $10,000 was likely to be reached once all pledges were received.
