Young songwriter with talent beyond years

HOWARD Shearman was just 14 when he won the adult/contemporary section at the inaugural Australian Songwriters Conference in 2008.

The category was judged by some of the most respected names in the industry, and said a lot about the young man's talent.

His debut EP Beautiful Ugly Day was produced by Lindsay Rimes of Songrimes Studio, Sydney, and confirmed Shearman's reputation as a gifted musician.

Shearman describes his music as "pop-rock with hints of jazz and bits of blues".

His sound has been compared to Bob Evans, Josh Pyke and City and Colour.

Shearman lists Dallas Green and The Butterfly Effect as among his musical influences.

He will play a range of original songs and covers at a free gig at Wyong Leagues Club tomorrow from 6pm.
