But when you're inflatable, the wind is blowing, and you've attracted the curiosity of locals, the bodyguard is a sensible ploy.
Meet Edgar, the traffic-stopping figure erected outside Blue Haven Community Centre.
Danny Milenkov, of Blue Haven Seventh-Day Adventist Community Church, said Edgar had proved to be a very effective attention grabber for the church's Search for Certainty series of public seminars.
"Edgar is actually an acronym for Every Dynasty God Already Revealed," Mr Milenkov said.
"He is part of God's prophecy, sent in a dream to King Nebuchadnezzar about 2500 years ago," he said.
The figure was said to have a head of gold, a chest and arms of silver, a belly and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay.
Each metal symbolises a historical dynasty, as told in the Bible, in The Book of Daniel, Chapter 2, he said.
"And it is an incredible prophecy because it is so specific."
God predicted that there would be unsuccessful attempts made to unify Europe, and these came to pass through the likes of Napoleon, Henry V and Hitler, Mr Milenkov said.
"And today the European Union is trying."
The Search for Certainty series offers a way to find inner peace and confidence, and shows how the prophecies of the Bible clearly describe news events of today, he said.
The free seminars continue this Saturday and Sunday, at the community centre on Colorado Drive, from 3pm to 5pm.
