Chairman Ian Eggins said that Biraban LALC had a clear vision for the future.
"Our organisation is progressing in leaps and bounds, and we are currently assessing our land asset base to ensure that the progressiveness and self-determination of Aboriginal people within our boundaries has longevity," Mr Eggins said.
Biraban's focus was on securing a local future for Aboriginal generations in "an environmentally sound, culturally safe, social setting".
Biraban LALC was established in 2011, and in February this year set up headquarters in Bolton Point Community Hall through a lease agreement with Lake Macquarie Council.
Chief executive officer Craig Foreshew said the organisation was committed to forming relationships with the council, other relevant agencies, and the wider community "to develop true partnerships" particularly with programs that benefit the entire community and involve elders, reconciliation and young people.
These opportunities would be identified through Biraban LALC's community land and business plan, on which consultation has started, Mr Foreshew said.
"It is vital to ascertain the significance of any economic opportunities for the local Aboriginal community in an ever-changing society," he said.
It was also critical, Mr Foreshew said, that the organisation uphold a balance of cultural practices stemming from its traditional beliefs.
"Membership for the Biraban LALC is increasing and if you are an Aboriginal person who can provide input, or would simply like to join, then contact Biraban LALC at biraban.craig@hotmail.com or phone 4959 1829," he said.
