Council has used predictive figures provided by its consultant to justify huge increases in developer contributions to pay for roadworks, which council claims are needed to cater for the future.
Yet contradicting council's trend is the recent closure of Morisset RetraVision and Bullseye Autopart Centre.
And the latest casualty to close its doors after more than three decades is the NRMA's Morisset office.
Ms Ferguson - who has been an NRMA Roadside Assistance member for 27 years - said she was shocked by the unexpected closure.
The closure was more bad news for Morisset, she said.
"Now we have to drive all the way to Toronto, or use a credit card over the phone," she said.
"Elderly people wouldn't like that. And some people are very wary of using a credit card over the phone."
NRMA Insurance spokesperson James Rickards said: "After an evaluation taking into account customer usage and community footprint, we have decided to close the Morisset location. Customers still have the choice to visit NRMA agencies at Toronto or Tuggerah, or pay for their insurance at Morisset Australia Post."
