Samba murder raid in Queensland

Police today raided the Gold Coast home of John Nikolic, the brother of a prominent jockey, in connection with the murder of racing identity Les Samba in a Melbourne street in February.

Police executed search warrants at the home of 37-year-old John Nikolic, the brother of jockey Danny Nikolic at Ron Penhaligan Way, Robina, at 9.30am.

During the morning raid, officers seized several items as part of their investigation into the fatal shooting of the former racing trainer.

Advertisement: Story continues below Mr Samba was gunned down in Beaconsfield Parade, Middle Park, Melbourne, on February 27, with police believing he was lured into a trap.

Victorian detectives will also go to Sydney today and are pursuing several avenues of inquiry.
