Toronto making progress

29 Jul, 2010 01:00 AM
THEY may still be anchored to the bottom of the Northern NSW State League soccer ladder, but the Toronto Awaba Stags are still putting in.

On Sunday, the Stags held semi-final aspirants Valentine Phoenix to a tense 2-1 win.

Toronto's Joshua Small was the goal scorer.

On the previous Sunday, Toronto had a sniff of a boilover win when they led competition front-runners Weston Workers 1-nil before succumbing 2-1.

This Sunday, the Stags will travel to Ulinga Park to take on South Cardiff at 2.30pm.

¦ Meanwhile, in the InterDistrict 2 competition, Morisset Strikers have maintained their unbeaten record with a 1-nil win over Belmont Tingara at Dora Creek Oval.

The Strikers will return to Auston Oval this Sunday for their clash with Westlakes Seniors.

Kick off in the Round 12 match is at 2.30pm.
