SOUTHERN Lakes sealed the Newcastle A Grade rugby union minor premiership with a 52-nil thumping of second-placed Pokolbin at Gibson Oval on Saturday.
It was the Hammerheads' fourth consecutive win by a margin of 50-plus points.
The team has accumulated formidable momentum with just three rounds remaining before the semi-finals.
Club spokesman Eric McKenzie said the Hammerheads turned on an entertaining clinic for fans.
"The backs and loose forwards supported the ball carrier like a plague of locusts in a wheat paddock," McKenzie said.
Southern Lakes led 31-nil at halftime, then ran in a further three converted tries after the break.
The try of the match came in the 34th minute from an attacking raid which unfolded down the clubhouse side of the ground and culminated in Kurt Forrester scoring under the posts, McKenzie said.
Southern Lakes will take on third-placed Muswellbrook at Highbrook Park this Saturday at 3pm.
