G'Day. And there's no truth in the rumour that Brenton from Get Reel is taking up pole dancing.
The weekend produced some classic summer weather and a mixed bag as far as the fishing was concerned.
There were some nice fish caught, although according to those who weighed in at the Dora Creek Workers FC on Sunday arvo, there was a lot of water between them.
Chris Auston weighed in his (club) bag limit of five bream which totalled a respectable 2.3 kilo's and provided a nice feed for the family.
He did point out, though, that he put in a dozen or so hours to catch said feed and it was only around lunch time on Sunday, after burlying a favorite spot for a few hours that the bream finally came on the chew.
Chris also caught himself a couple of fat blue swimmer crabs, one of several reported crab catches over the weekend, that were attempting to steal his fresh mullet strip baits.
Ross White had a quiet weekend by his standards but still managed to weigh in his five garfish.
Ross also managed to catch himself what he described as the biggest mud crab he'd ever seen.
Caught on a line which was baited with a strip of mullet, Ross's conservative estimate as to the weight of the beast was three kilograms.
Yours truly went out for a fish courtesy of Mark Kilkeary on Sunday and just to show how much water there was between fish, almost five hours of fishing produced four keepers.
A smallish silver trevally (.4kg) finished up in the esky alongside three healthy flathead, all of which where caught on soft plastic lures.
It must be said, however, that the three flatties where in excellent condition and weighed a fairly impressive 5.2 kilograms between them.
Mark ventured offshore on Saturday and, heading south of Swansea, tried several spots before finding the reef he'd been looking for.
Fishing a paternoster rig with squid and prawns, he landed a couple of nannygai and seven rubber lipped morwong all caught, funnily enough, on the prawns. Gerd Feige got himself on the board with a nice 1.4 kilogram flathead, Alan Wigney caught garfish, flounder and bream while Dave Hick weighed in bream and flathead.
That's it.
