MORISSET have suffered their first major setback of the InterDistrict 2 soccer season with the news that leading goal scorer Karl Gavin is likely to be sidelined for five games with an ankle injury.
Gavin sustained the injury during Morisset's gritty 3-2 win over Tenambit Sharks at Beryl Humble Complex
Club spokesman Michael Gavin said the Strikers were trailing 2-1 when his son was stretchered from the field.
"But the rest of the boys really muscled up and scored two very good goals to win it," Gavin said.
Last night, the Strikers were due to meet Barnsley Seniors in a wet-weather catch-up game.
This Sunday, Morisset will take on Raymond Terrace Seniors at Dora Creek Oval at 3pm.
Morisset will welcome the return of Mitch Lawrence who has served a two-match suspension.
