PROP Chris Feather made a surprise return from a rib injury on Sunday to give the Wyong Roos a boost on the eve of the Tooheys Cup rugby league finals series this weekend.
The barnstorming Englishman helped Wyong to a 32-12 victory over Central Newcastle on Sunday, in the Roos' final match of the home-and-away season.
Feather sustained a broken rib and bruised kidneys in the win over Maitland on August 1, and was not expected to play again until the finals.
But coach Paul Stringer said he wanted Feather to prove his fitness.
"We made a decision that it was best for him to test it out in a game," Stringer said.
The good news for Wyong is that Feather emerged unscathed and ready for finals football.
"It's a big boost for us, because he's been pretty good for us all season."
The Roos face Wests at Harker Oval this Sunday.
Wyong is yet to beat Wests this season, having scored a 16-all draw in Round 6, and a 32-24 loss in Round 10.
"We just need to play the full 80 minutes and do what we train to do," Stringer said.
