DORA Creek Workers Club cricketer Ethan Urquhart has a bright future as an all-rounder if his recent form is anything to go by.
A member of the Newcastle IDCA junior representative team this season, Ethan played in the four-day Ron Arendts Under 11 Carnival in Newcastle last week.
"He was runner-up player of the carnival based on a 3-2-1 points system awarded by the umpire after each match," his proud dad Ranald said.
"Ethan finished one vote behind the winner."
Rep teams travelled from Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast to contest the carnival.
Newcastle won two of three matches, losing to Inner West Harbour.
"During the four days Ethan scored 83 runs and took three wickets and was instrumental in his side's victories over Penrith and Parramatta," Ranald said.
Ethan top-scored for Newcastle with 27 runs and took 1-5 with the ball against Penrith.
In a one-run victory against Parramatta, he hit 30 runs and snared 2-15.
