DEFENDING Newcastle Rugby League premiers Wyong were held to a 16-all draw at Morry Breen Field on Sunday.
Wyong led 16-12 deep into the second half.
But Wests earned a share of the points when a penalty in the dying minutes sent them deep into Wyong territory and led to a try for centre David Pangai.
Wyong not only disputed the penalty but felt that Pangai's try involved an obstruction.
Wests, however, scored four tries to three, and will feel that they deserved more than a draw.
Skipper Jamie Davis, Josh Mantellato and Kene Te Whata scored tries for Wyong.
The Roos will be attempting to avoid three weeks without a win when they take on Lakes United at Cahill Oval this Sunday at 3pm.
