Annual lake festival adds run for kids

26 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
THE annual Lake Macquarie Running Festival will become even more family-friendly this weekend.

The festival format has been rejigged to include a four-kilometre event - called the Kids' Scamper - especially for eight- to 13-year-olds.

The festival is held on the foreshore of Lake Macquarie, taking advantage of the flat going between Warners Bay and Speers Point.

A half-marathon of 21.1 kilometres, and a 10.5-kilometre fun run/community walk ensure that mums and dads can take part, too.

The event will be staged this Sunday, August 29, and registrations are available online until tomorrow (Friday).

For more information about the festival go to www.lakemacrunning.com or phone 4956 3122.
