FEW people at the recent Women's National Gymnastics Club Championships in Canberra had heard of Morisset.
And even fewer knew where it was.
But all that changed thanks to the girls from KWK Gymnastics Sportz Academy Morisset.
Competing in their first national event, the KWK contingent's results at the Australian Institute of Sport soon put Morisset on the map, and on plenty of lips.
KWK head coach Nancy Foster said that at the end of the first day's competition, KWK had stunned everyone by climbing to fourth place overall.
KWK was also in first place on vault, and third place on bars.
It was then that she was approached by a coach from the elite Delta Brisbane Gymnastic Club.
"She said: 'You've got no idea how everyone is talking about you'," Ms Foster said.
The Delta coach wanted to find out all about Morisset and the KWK club.
And when she was told of the town's location and how small the KWK club was, she was amazed.
"But you've come into Day 2 of comeptition in fourth spot overall. You've just come out of nowhere..." she told Ms Foster.
The KWK team of Isabella Tuinukuafe, Elle Stewart, Zarah-Ann Hooper, Jasmine Fischbeck and Chloe Hull sustained their Day 1 performance levels on Day 2 to ensure that the team maintained fourth position overall at the end of the Level 4 competition.
"There were 191 gymnasts all up from 43 clubs from around Australia, and only 24 of those clubs got to make it through to Day 2 of competition," Ms Foster said.
"When you consider some of the big and elite clubs that we were up against, it was a very good achievement."
The result caps another successful competition year for KWK.
The club produced seven Hunter champions, one state champion, and two NSW Country champions, Ms Foster said.
