G'day. The weather gods continue to conspire against us fishos, with cool temperatures, fluky winds, and dirty water making things difficult, and fish hard to find.
The frustrated fishos from Dora Creek Fishing Club reported a similar story at their monthly soiree on Sunday arvo.
While numbers and size of fish were down, a wide variety of species was caught.
Kris Isles and Tracey Evens weighed in five species of fish, while Fred Roberts and Ross White got flathead and bream.
Stu Hopping caught his regulation five (club bag limit) flathead, while Laurie and Penny Vogt also got flathead and bream between them.
Another couple of anglers who didn't care about the quantity of fish were Thomas Smith, who broke his mulloway duck, and John Cheyne.
Thomas was fishing with his brand new beach outfit and got his first argyrosomus japonicas down near Catherine Hill Bay while John weighed in a whiting which pushed the scales to an impressive 540 grams.
Regulars Mansour Ayoub, Jamie Cox and Mary Romero caught bream, whiting and blackfish, six-year-old Alexis Renshaw caught a 1.2 kilo flathead and eight-year-old brother Zac got a couple of nice bream.
One bright note though is there are a heap of blue swimmer crabs about. Find yourself some clear water, try the eastern stretches of the lake and you're a good chance of catching a feed.
That's it for 2011. This is the last edition for this year so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who contributed to this column over the past 12 months.
