LOCAL budding cricketers will have the chance to learn more about the game and its fundamental skills at an inaugural in2CRICKET coaching program to start at Dora Creek on Saturday, February 11.
Supported by Dora Creek Workers CLub, it is the first time the Milo sponsored program has been to the district.
But Cricket Australia's Participation Growth Officer Matt Williams said the need in the area was strong.
"Cricket is a particularly healthy pastime for kids and provides a lot of benefits apart from learning how to play and enjoy the game.
"It develops a team spirit and a social code which serves them throughout life," he said.
The program will offer children aged from five to 10 years the opportunity to be taught batting, bowling, catching and throwing skills as well as making new friends and generally having fun.
Mr Williams said the coaching clinics will be staged between 9am and 10am at the Douglass Street Oval No 2 and finish on Saturday, March 24.
The cost of the MILO sponsored program is $60.
'Each participant gets seven weeks of fun plus their own in2CRICKET back pack, shirt, bat, ball and hat.
