 Hill leads Doylo victory

Hill leads Doylo victory

08 Dec, 2011 12:00 AM
A STRONG performance from Doyalson all-rounder Shaun Hill has helped his team to a 46-run win over Umina in the Central Coast Cricket Association Division 1 match at Doyalson on Saturday.

Batting first in what became a 50-overs match (due to a washout on the first Saturday), Doyalson amassed 7-216.

An opening-wicket stand of 119 between George Boyd (31) and captain Stuart Lockyer (88) set the platform.

Hill came in at No 3 and put on a handy 25.

But it was his effort with the ball that turned the match Doyalson's way.

Hill claimed 6-31 from just eight overs.

The win moves Doyalson to 30 points, and third place, on the competition ladder.

Lisarow leads on 34 points, with Mountains second on 32.

After six rounds of the competition, Doyalson has scored more runs than any other team (1419) but has also conceded the most (1340) which partly reflects the quality of the Doyalson wicket and outfield.

This Saturday, Doyalson will travel to Erina Oval to take on fourth-placed Kincumber in their Round 7 fixture.

And in the Newcastle District Cricket Association competition, Toronto upset previous competition leaders Belmont in their match at Cahill Oval.

Toronto captain Joe Price led from the front with the new ball, claiming 4-27 to help dismiss Belmont for 143 in the 41st over in their 50-over match.

The visitors reached the target for the loss of four wickets with two overs to spare.

Opening batsman Josiah McCredie finished unbeaten on 46 to guide Toronto home.

The Kookaburras return to Ron Hill Oval this Saturday to take on University.
