THE Newcastle Mall should be embarrassing for every Novocastrian. We have a beautiful city with historic buildings, fantastic beaches, a working harbour and a great foreshore area.
Why would you want heavy rail in the middle? Why not light, easy-to-use modern rail? The Newcastle CBD needs to be an attraction for visitors. All the cruise ships' patrons must not believe their eyes when they come into a derelict city.
Can we all work together to make this city what it deserves to be? Take down those darn figs and just get on with the redevelopment.
