TORONTO High School will undergo a significant upgrade to become a trade training centre.
The school will receive $631,500 to refurbish existing facilities to include an engineering workshop.
It will enable the school to deliver Certificate I and II qualifications in engineering.
The upgrade is part of the federal government's $2 million investment to build trade training centres at Toronto and Glendale high schools.
"The Gillard Government is committed to ensuring every Australian student can get the skills they need to succeed in tomorrow's workforce," member for Charlton, Greg Combet, said.
"Trade Training Centres make a real difference to the education pathways of local secondary students by giving them access to state-of-the-art training facilities to acquire the skills they need for a trade career."
Glendale High School will receive $1,315,500 to enable it to deliver Certificate I and II qualifications in hospitality.
"This instalment builds on the $6.7 million already invested in schools in Charlton, to build Trade Training Centres at Callaghan College, Wallsend Campus, Avondale School and St Paul's High School, Booragul," Mr Combet said.
