Thoughtful poets entertain audience

09 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THE annual Morisset Show Poetry Competition was hotly contested again this year.

The audience were treated to light-hearted rhymes from eight-year-old Tynan Fuller, heartfelt original works by Barbara Nichols and a thought-provoking piece by youth Harlan Youngs.

But the poet who impressed the judges most was David Fatches who was crowned poet of the year.

Show entertainment co-ordinator Martin Beggs said the competition, which is sponsored by the Lakes Mail, was particularly well received.

"We are very pleased with the crowd that turned out to listen, it's been the biggest show crowd we've seen," Mr Beggs said.
