Sun shines on biggest Morisset Show seen in years

09 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
ORGANISERS of the Morisset-Lake Macquarie District Agricultural Show were understandably fretting on Friday as rain threatened to wash out their weekend event.

But by Saturday morning the rain had cleared, the sunshine was out, and so were plenty of locals.

The event's promotions officer Justin Rumore said it turned out to be a bumper year for the show which boasts a 58-year history.

"I've been going to this event for 18 years and I've never seen a show like that," Mr Rumore said on Monday.

Only the showjumping events were postponed due to the wet conditions.

Among the biggest hits was the inaugural pets show, where the crowd stood three-deep to see pets such as puppies, pigs and ponies paraded by proud owners.
