Pontoon jetties improve lake access

23 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
BOAT users have better access to Lake Macquarie thanks to the installation by Lake Macquarie City Council of two pontoon jetties.

The first jetty runs parallel to the existing ramp in Cockle Creek, Speers Point, and the other is in Blacksmiths boat harbour on the northern side of the boat ramp.

Pontoon jetties improve the ease of launching and retrieving boats, and can be used by one operator.

Council also constructed disability car parking and pathway access during the project.

Upgraded pontoon jetty facilities will shortly be provided at Swansea, council's acting community planning manager, Narelle Reichert, said.
