PANTERA Blacksmith is arguably the greatest female pole dancer in the world and last week the superfit Texan was in Morisset giving a workshop at the town's only pole dancing gym, Bella's Pole Studio in Morisset's Gateway industrial park.
Just mentioning pole dancing a year ago would raise a snigger behind the hand.
It was both the stage set and the sound of music for striptease artists.
"Not any more. Our pole dancing is a healthy method of keeping very fit and enjoying every moment of it as a form of super dance," Pantera said.
Pantera has been travelling the world giving practical workshops and demonstrations of pole dancing skills, an art which originated in circus acts and is believed can be traced back to ancient China.
Pantera arrived at Bella's studio with just a few weeks left in Australia before she moves on to New Zealand.
"It's terrific to have her here. It's a real boost," studio owner, Bella said.
Bella and her senior instructor and dancing partner Janina Travers are already on the road to becoming pole dancing stars themselves.
The pair will contest the Asia Pacific Pole Dancing Championships next month.
"We've been open for just 12 months and it is really beginning to catch on because although it is hard work it's real fun," Bella said.
