Lake Macquarie City Council is considering using the NSW Government's Budget offer of interest free loans for up to 10 year periods to kick start major development in Wyee, Mayor Greg Piper said on Friday.

"Any loan still has to be repaid but our council is possibly in a better position than many other councils to do that and the NSW Government is making $200 million available for these no-cost loans.

"It could well be a solution to providing the essential services such as sewer. We need to have discussions with the other agencies involved," Mayor Piper said.
