FORMER fashion model Zsa Zsa is the strong silent type who didn't utter a word of complaint when her name was changed to Myrtle and her career was switched to nursing.
In fact, Myrtle never says a word about anything at all because the tall attractive brunette is actually a plastic, if able-bodied, mannequin of good standing and the latest recruit to boost Morisset Hospital Historical Society's museum ranks.
"We have a lot of period costumes and uniforms and to date all we've had to show them on was dress makers' dummies," explained former Morisset Hospital night nurse manager and Society member Chris Gavenlock.
Well known locals Chassler and Clarry Deaves were the second couple to be married in the uniquely pretty hospital chapel built in 1957 and the first to be married with a red carpet in it, a fact the Society wants to keep in recorded history.
"At the time, Chassler was a nurse at the hospital and married in the chapel, as did so many of the staff after her," Ms Gavenlock said.
"She has donated her beautiful wedding dress to the museum and actually gave us a generous cheque to buy a mannequin. We were absolutely thrilled," Ms Gavenlock said.'
Myrtle's first public appearance will be at the Society's Open Day on May 8.
"It will be just the second time we've had a public showing of the many artifacts from the hospital's former glory days since our centenary celebrations last year."
