Life honour for sailing members

02 Sep, 2010 01:00 AM
SOUTH Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club has three new life members, the first in 13 years.

At the club's recent annual general meeting, Mavis Roberts, Val Young and Brian "Goldie" Goldsmith were unanimously voted life membership for their committed and continuous services to the club.

Ms Roberts has been highly involved with organising the club canteen and running "Alma's" shop for most of the club's history.

Ms Young has been the club's official race starter-finisher for more than 30 years.

"With more than 23 years continual service to the club, Goldie is a relative new comer but he is one of the club's unconditional and unsung dedicated volunteers and the club's self-appointed caretaker who does endless and often unnoticed but essential work around the club," a member said.
