LAKE Macquarie ratepayers are facing a round of price increases on virtually all council services, plus around 100 new charges, as LMCC seeks to boost income to cover rising costs.
The main motive for increasing fees and charges was applying a user-pays principle to achieve "full cost recovery", a council report said.
Despite that, pricing methods ranged from "partial cost recovery" to collecting an amount greater than the cost of a service.
The report claims council fees and charges will increase by an average 5 per cent in 2010-11.
Additionally, there will be more than 100 new charges introduced to the already long list.
It will cost people more to die, with cemetery plot fees rising from $800 in 2009-10 to $900 in 2010-11, a 12.5 per cent increase.
The cost of a weekly domestic garbage pick-up, paid in annual rate notices, will rise from $301.17 to $320.85, a 6.5 per cent increase.
Applying to chop down a tree will cost $78, a 6 per cent rise.
Buskers will have to pay more for council's permission to sing for their supper, with the cost of a six-month licence to busk in Belmont, Charlestown and Toronto town centres rising from $44.10 to $50.
Food inspections of supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, hotels and takeaways will rise from $185.85 to $195.
People looking to rezone land will pay $5457 for the council to assess their plan, a 5 per cent rise from the previous year.
Trampolinists at the Hunter Sports Centre will pay more, with the per-term cost of a beginner's program for children rising from $126 to $130.50.

New charges include naming a road at a cost of $1200, renumbering a house for $300 and dumping a mattress at Awaba tip for $25.
The council's draft 2010-11 pricing policy is on exhibition and is open for public comment.
The new prices are planned to begin on July 1.
