THE well known not-for-profit theatre group, Catalina Players, has been entertaining audiences for 36 years, using the money raised to support a wide range of local community causes.
In the three decades the group has raised $144,500 with beneficiaries including local schools, families in crisis, injured or disabled persons, local youth, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, John Hunter Kids Hospital, Canteen, Cancer Council, Leukaemia Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Prostate Cancer fundraising, Victorian Bush Fire Appeal and the Catalina Memorial Trust to name a few.
During this past year, in addition to the local schools and community groups, major beneficiaries have been the Haiti Appeal Red Cross, the Dunsdon Boys Appeal, Juvenile Diabetes 'Walk Ethan', the Sean Stimson Appeal and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
The Rathmines-based group recently opened its one-play-a-year season with Comfort and Joy to a strong audience.
