THE Salvation Army is offering free Wednesday dinners for locals at its Bolton Point church from next week.
Spit roasts and barbecued meats will be among the fare served up as part of the Westlakes Salvation Army's FEAST program.
"It's a chance to have a break from cooking and cleaning and enjoy a lovely free meal with your friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere," Westlakes Salvation Army events co-ordinator Michelle Edwards said.
After dinner, participants are invited to hear Salvation Army officers discussing Christianity.
"It's an opportunity to find out for yourself what Christianity is really about. But it's in a very relaxed atmosphere and certainly isn't hard sell," Ms Edwards said.
The FEAST dinners are open to families, children and individuals.
"And it's an opportunity to make new friends in a supportive, caring environment."
The program reflects the Salvation Army's commitment to nourishing the body, mind and spirit, Ms Edwards said.
Free child care is available for school children in years 1 to 6.
Ms Edwards said the FEAST nights were particularly popular with local families.
"A lot of families come along, and we find that most people who enjoy the dinner are happy to stay and enjoy the fellowship," she said.
The dinners also provide opportunities for participants to seek advice on a range of issues, including parenting.
The FEAST dinners will be held at 5.30pm over six consecutive Wednesdays, starting on February 15.
Bookings for next Wednesday's dinner are now being taken on 4959 7424.
