Dangerous surf forces beach closures

06 Feb, 2012 10:31 AM
DANGEROUS surf conditions today have forced the closure of five of the six beaches patrolled by lifeguards in Wyong Shire.

Big swells have forced lifeguards to close Lakes Beach, Soldiers Beach, North Entrance Beach, The Entrance Beach and Shelly Beach.

Toowoon Bay Beach still remains open to the public, and council lifeguards are on duty there.

Besides the dangerous swells, most of the beaches are also experiencing tricky conditions including rips.

The public are advised to listen to the advice of lifeguards and stay out of the water for their own safety.

When the beaches are open, the public is advised to swim between the flags.
