CHARITIES CanTeen and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service are two winners from Eraring Energy's astonishingly successful safety at work program.
Inspired by the Workcover Safety Incentive Scheme in 2003, Eraring has become a multi-award winner and a champion of turning safety cash incentives into charity funding.
The power provider's saftey wins include the Public Sector Leadership Award for Injury Prevention and Management at the recent Safe Work Australia Awards.
A committee led by Paul Ward, Eraring's first-ever Safety Ambassador and a winner of many individual safety awards, organised a Safety Expo at the Eraring power plant last week where CanTeen and Westpac were each presented with $6250 taken from the top of the incentive payout.
Eraring administration manager, Antony Cotic, said the power generator had donated $110,000 split equally between the two charities since 2003.
"We're understandably proud of our safety record and particularly pleased that it enables us to contribute to both Westpac Rescue Helicopter and CanTeen," Mr Cotic said.
The Safety Expo included static and live displays.
