MICHAEL Chamberlain has turned his PhD doctoral thesis into a book and he says it has already raised eyebrows in the the more conservative corners of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
Chamberlain says he spent 21/2 years on doctoral research in the history of the church's development and evolution, which became the book, Beyond Ellen White, in reference to the American founder of the church in Australia in the late 19th century..
"Not everybody agrees with some of the things I say in the book, because the evolution of the SDA movement has some controversial aspects which I wasn't prepared to ignore, but I have made every effort to give an honest appraisal of the church and its transition over the years," he said.
"I believe it provides a realistic picture of what the church was, what it has become, and how and why it has become what it now is."
The book is Chamberlain's third, and the hefty paperback was published by Post Press, but a formal launch date has yet to be fixed.
It is available from Morisset Library or direct from website www.michaelchamberlain.com.au for $74.50, including postage and GST.
