BRIGHTWATERS Christian College raised more than $8000 for the Leukaemia Foundation during its recent World's Greatest Shave fundraiser.
Staff member Cindy Gilbert was one of several brave women to go completely bald.
"I'm getting comments like 'oh... it's not too bad' and that makes me wonder how terrible I must actually look," she said.
"Most of the time I forget about it and get shocked when I run my fingers through my hair. It's all for a great cause and when you think about the suffering that cancer patients go through, I really don't have anything to complain about."
Hairdressers from Dior at Bonnells Bay volunteered to lop the locks and pupils at the school participated by colouring their hair.
The school decided to take part after one of its kindergarten pupils was diagnosed with leukaemia.
The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave is one of Australia's biggest fundraising events.
Since 1998, the event has raised in excess of $106 million.
