Dance teacher Charli Mason said cheerleading was soaring in popularity.
"We have both boys and girls that attend," she said.
"The boys actually love the cheerleading as we teach American style cheerleading.
"It is very athletic and a sport that develops strength, fitness and agility - skills that translate into any sport.
"It is not the cheerleading you usually see at local sporting matches it's a mixture of gymnastics, lifts and modern styles of dance."
Acro Cheer and Dance holds classes at Warners Bay and Teralba but is planning classes for Wyong and Morisset.
