COLOURFUL characters, soulful music and healthy food are on offer at the monthly Lake Munmorah Brackets and Jam gatherings.
The event features local musos and is held on the second Saturday of each month at Lake Munmorah Community Hall.
Vegetarian meals, desserts and the popular Brackets chai are served throughout the night.
This Saturday, the line-up includes bands Walk On, Dear Orphans, and Mirrabooka.
There will also be belly dancing and a community drumming session.
Sydney outfit Dear Orphans frontman Nick Payne believes his music "connects with the bare bones of the human condition".
"Our music persists in a way that other music doesn't - it has the ability to stick with you for a long time," Payne said.
"We are influenced by traditional bluegrass. What I love about bluegrass is that it's music written by people battling with real life."
Payne said his passion for country life was the driving force behind the creation of Dear Orphans.
"It's about getting to the roots of the road, getting away from the city, stripping back to the bare minimum and just playing," he said.
The event kicks off with a drum jam at 6pm, followed by solo artist Benjamin James Eastwood.
Tickets cost $7 and those aged younger than 16 are admitted free.
