Police van toppled in crash

WITNESSES are being sought to a motor vehicle accident involving a P-plate driver at Budgewoi on Saturday night which resulted in a caged police truck rolling and landing on its side.

Two police officers were hospitalised as a result of the incident.

About 10.50pm the police vehicle was driving south on Ourringo Street.

At the intersection with Ocean Street, a Hyundai Excel allegedly failed to give way and collided with the police vehicle.

The police car rolled a number of times, landing on its side and trapping two police officers inside.

Both were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Excel, a male P-plater, was uninjured and is assisting police with their inquiries.
